He walks down the street
and thinks to himself
“This is a bit of
cliche, today.”
As he walks, he talks
to people he meets
on the street
in the heat.
And he wishes
for a
cool
clear
container
of
water.

A long while ago I posted what was going to be the first chapter of a book I was going to write. The title was Attack of the Space Pirates, and it still will be. But I was having a hard time getting through it. It just wasn’t grabbing me. I am going to start the blogging process on this book fairly soon (it could be tomorrow!).
The new idea behind this book isn’t that original, but it will be much more fun. I am thinking of doing it scrapbook style, with snippets of interviews, transcripts, application forms of main characters, and things like that. I think it will do one of two things.
1 – Take the place of a traditional novel for this story.
2 – Allow me to write the novel/book as I will have plenty of info to do so.
To that end, I am more than likely going to start posting snippets here. I want to check out a few copyright what-have-yous first, but I think it will work out.

Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla was crap. Boo! I will have to rent Godzilla: Final Wars to get a true Godzilla fix, because that movie is the shiz-knight. It’s as if someone at Toho was all “Hey, let’s just make a batshit crazy Godzilla movie. Ooh, we can have it be like Destroy All Monsters, only with a crazy American ninja badass!”
If you just want a feel good movie, rent Final Wars. I dare you not to laugh. It doesn’t take itself seriously, which is good because Godzilla just isn’t serious anymore. He was in his first outing, but the seriousness died when he did.
Dead Alive was awesome, as usual. I have also rented Meet the Feebles, which I have never seen. Sam had never seen Dead Alive and almost threw up a few times. I had asked her before viewing if she had eaten later, so I did take precautions. It wasn’t as fun as I remember, so I think I’m outgrowing gore just a little. Or I need to drink more when I watch this stuff.
I also rented the 2008 Day of the Dead, which I assume will be terrible. But what can one do? I needs my zombie fix.

The aliens came today.
We were surprised
as they brought us
a message of peace
and love and then
told us how it would happen.
Our lives were wrong,
they said.
We must live like they did
and then used force to
show us.
For your own good they said.
We want to help
they said.
Help from them I cannot
need or want
So I held my head high
and they said it
would be better if
I didn’t.
But I stood against
and as I saw the crater
in my chest
My last words were
“Go back to Earth.”

Well, I have finally seen “Juno.” I wanted to see it in the theater but I just never got there. Story of my life. I just never seem to make it to the theater. I was happy with it. I always get a bit scared about hyped movies, but this one caused no worries. Good stuff. It had a happy ending, too. I like that.
I find happy endings to be pretty bold these days. Especially in an indie flick. There seems to be this thought pervading that sad=good, and I don’t think I’m the first to notice. Sometimes the story doesn’t lend itself to misery. It’s okay not to have the happily ever after vibe, but some folks take it too far.
Anyway, I really liked the parents in this. Jonah Jameson is quality where ever, and the mom was very well done. The mom could have been a total throwaway character, but not here. She isn’t present too often, but when she is we see many sides of her.
Good stuff. Enjoyable visual oddities throughout. What’s next? Godzilla!

It’s not just the smell that turns me off
the warts on your face don’t help.
Is there a paper sack you could wear?
No?
Too bad.

Today at Poetic Asides, LeeBee has us writing an insult poem. I’ve already done this. I still will write a new poem, but I felt compelled to post this poem as well.
U-G-L-Y
With a crooked nose and big brown teeth
Cauliflower ears and fat like a wreath
Around your middle, Boy you’re chunky.
And your face reminds me a lot of a monkey.
A paper bag would go well with that noodle!
And you smell like an accident left by a poodle.
No one will love you, not even a nun
Except for me, for you are my son.

How the Dog Behaves
With his fur across
the blanket but he remains unseen
I know he’s up to something
My senses are quite keen.
There lay a trail of litter
from the front room to the back
the kitchen is filthy now
the trash can has no sack.
It’s at the feet of Grendel,
the monster of my house.
Food left out trembles like
the settling of a house.
He’ll sniff it out. He’ll find it.
With him there is no doubt
And he’ll nose at your hand after
with a still greasy smelly snout.
So help me I will pet him,
my anger will be gone
For I know the poor boy
cannot stand to be gone from food for long.

LeeBee has us writing a poem based on a song. I chose my favorite song. By Dispatch.
Elias – Dispatch
They sit with hope
It shines in their eyes
at every desk
at every corner.
The hope shines long
as they hear of heroes pasts
and lives not their own
and people who care.
They look at now
not thinking of then
or before
But what comes now.

Sorry
the line was blue
you said you’re sorry.
You think that way
and it makes me sorry
too.
